Medical photography is challenging because I have no idea of knowing how the (surgery) rooms gonna be like: it’s usually small and lit with green fluorescent light. Also, I have to work fast. When I photograph doctors, athletes, etc, I only have 10~15 min to finish. My setup is pretty simple: one 28″ Westcott Apollo softbox on camera left and a grid behind to the right to simulate sun light coming off the windows. Softbox takes more time to setup but I like to control the light in fairly tight space.

Last Sunday, my 2nd photographer David and I photographed Ilana & KC’s wedding at the beautiful McLean house in West linn,Oregon. 70-80 degrees during the day, plenty of trees and lots of greenaries what more could I ask for? I love the weather in Portland in the summer.

Lots of shade at the venue. This means pretty easy light to work (but images can be boring). My 2nd shooter David and I placed one Canon 580 EXII as a hair light just behind bride and groom to create directional lighting.
