Chris Francis played really well and he also lead 5:4 shootout victory over Brandon Wheat Kings. Kurtis Mucha (Curtis got injured today) made an incredible save during the shootout. Winterhawks seem like totally different team this season and the first place in the U.S. Division.

I’ve been looking for portable softbox for small strobes. I know bruce dorn makes wonderful products but it was very expensive (the adaptor called “magic slipper” is about $300). I also had to buy softbox etc. There’s other makers on the market but I wasn’t so sure about their quality. I am a big fan of Elinchrom softboxes. They are quick & easy to setup. Couple month ago, I bought the Elinchrom accessory called Reflector Adapter EL-RQ for Quadra. It’s designed to work with Elinchrom softboxes including Octa.

Today I’ve been playing with 580 EXII and trying to find a way to modify so that it works with Elinchrom light modifiers that I have.

Here’s a setup: Justin clamp, 5 ⁄ 8 Inch (Nominal) Spigot (which is used for the common umbrella adapters), and flash stand. Nice thing about this is that I can use pocket wizard flex TT5 as well as plus II. This was a perfect setup.

I will be using this setup where I can’t bring power packs with me. Nice thing abut this setup is that I can adjust the strobe hight very easily and set up very quickly. Now I can use ETTL and new pocketwizard Flex TT5 makes so easy. It also works with Nikon SB-26s as well.

If you already have Elinchrom light modifiers, this is pretty neat setup.
I came to the game late and I saw there was an ambulance. Later I was told that beaverton RB Dylan Jackson was injured. I hope he’s able to come back next match. Crusaders dominated throughout the game. 3rd Quarter alone, they scored 20. Final score Crusader 53 Beaverton 0. I shot at ISO 3200, 1/500, F2.8. I was still full 2 stop underexposed. Nik software Dfine 2.0 was used to reduce some noise.

It’s been raining all week. We had somewhat overacted day for couple of hour and wanted to do quick family portrait session outside. Elinchrom Quadra made me super easy to setup. It was so portable that I can easily carry around. This shot was taken at the Red Tail golf course and I believe it’s the 1st hole. Glass was wet and I used homemade posing blocks so that my clients cloth did not get wet. Simple lighting setup. Just one light with an umbrella on camera light and it was feathered.

Nest shot was taken just with natural light. I was at F3.5 and didn’t have to worry too much about depth of field since everyone in the photo was in-line. I used Nik software to darken and brighten the image (sort of like super fast dodge & burn technique in photoshop).

Inside the restaurant, client wanted to take some group photo. When I got there, it was really dark and limited space was an issue as well. Not the best background but it was probably the best background I can utilize in given environment. Flash was bounced with 1/2 CTO gel.

It was the hottest game of the night. OSAA 5A #1 Sherwood Bowmen vs #3 Hillsboro Spartans High School Football. Hillsboro is great defensive team and today they showed that they are one of the best offensive team in the state. #15 Colt Lyerla is great player and #20, #7 they all did great tonight. Final Score: #3 HILLSBORO 48, #1 SHERWOOD 14. Why Bowmen wearing pink socks? You guessed it. Susan G Komen; fight the breast cancer. Don’t usually see football player wearing pink socks that often.
