Portland Winterhawks beat Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3 and that’s 9-0 this season.  Last year, we were one of the worst team throughout the league but man, this year we are totally different team now.  I see a lot more fans this year and Seattle game has been always my favorite game.  Here’s some of the game photo.  I didn’t bring long glasses tonight all of them shot with 1d Mark III + 70-200 2.8 is.

Photographed Winterhawks players, staff, coaches on the ice today.  One thing I notice: I didn’t need wheels on light stand.  All I needed was just a little push.

Two even lights (Elinchrom BX) with 60″ umbrellas provided barely enough power to give me F16 @ 1600 ISO.    Shot tethered using Canon EOS utility and Lightroom.

Actual photo shoot is about 15 min.  Directing players where to stand or sit took me a while.

I ended up doing lots of dodge and burning since head coach Mike didn’t want to see any of the chairs on the background.

I went through couple of Sunday’s hockey game photo.

Winterhawks Boychuk, Riley (#17) collide with Silvertips goalie Thomas Heemskerk during 2nd period

Heart breaker comes in late 3rd period.  Everett Silvertips Byron Froese after scoring game winning goal during 3rd period against the Portland Winterhawks at Memorial Coliseum.

Saskatoon Blades is one of the best team in the league.  In face, is the # 1 team in Eastern Conference.  Lots of goals and game got overexcited a little.

The banner said “Protecting the Health” in the back.

hate to see overtime lose but it was a great game.

Portland Winterhawks’ Nino Niederreiter scored two goals (one in 3rd period and the other one in OT) lead Swiss national team victory against Russia in World Junior Championship. He’s one of my favorite player. Semi final game will be Swiss vs Canada this Sunday.

Portland Winterhawks played against Seattle thunderbirds New year’s eve in Rose Garden. As you expected, there’s lots of goals and fans went crazy last night. Tonight’s 1st star of the game was without a doubt Winterhawks goalie Ian Curtis and it was his 3rd shut of of the season. Happy new year!

This is one of his 33 saves of the night

Chris Francis’s assist and 3rd goal scored by Riley Boychuk (not pictured)

Annual airplane toss night and Curtis’ new custom made helmet arrived today.  I get to photograph his helmet way before the game starts.  Curtis didn’t get to play tonight.  Mac Carruth (#31) was our goaltender and it was tough night for him.
